St Joseph's Primary School, East Maitland is a systemic Catholic school situated in the Hunter Valley, NSW, catering to students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Committed to meeting the learning needs of all students, the school blends traditional and contemporary learning styles and has a range of first class facilities that serve a wide and diverse cross section of communities, both rural and urban, in the Morpeth and East Maitland Parishes.

The school boasts a contemporary, well-resourced library and information centre, the latest technology including a computer laboratory, attractive school grounds and playing fields, interactive classrooms and an excellent assembly hall, all providing a stimulating and adaptable learning environment for students.

Physical education plays an important role in the lives of St Joseph’s students with weekly sports programs including gymnastics and fitness, dance and movement and lifesaving and team sports helping to enhance students’ gross motor coordination, fundamental movement, ball skills and fitness.

Student’s also have the opportunity to be involved with regional Gifted and Enrichment days, debating, chess, science, English, computing, writing competitions, choir, guitar and the school orchestra.

With a strong pastoral care program, Learning Support Team, Parent Assisted Learning, Peer Reading Programs and a Special Education Unit that prepares and programs special extension group work in both English and Mathematics, each child’s individual learning needs are catered for.

An enthusiastic Parents & Friends Association strives to work with the school's executive and all members of the school community to make all people, particular new families, feel warm and welcome and to develop a supportive and effective learning environment.
